What the app is for

GuardFrame CCTV is a mobile RTSP camera monitoring app. It can save compatible RTSP/H.264 camera streams, show them in a live CCTV wall, record streams locally, and use GuardFrame Cloud for optional recording and camera sync workflows.

The app is designed for cameras, DVRs, NVRs, and RTSP sources that expose compatible H.264 streams over RTSP/TCP.

Setup guide

Getting started

1. Prepare your RTSP URL

Use the RTSP address provided by your camera, DVR, NVR, or video system. A typical URL starts with rtsp:// and may include a host, port, stream path, and query parameters.

For security, keep passwords out of the visible URL when possible and use the separate Authentication fields in the app.

2. Add the camera

Open the Cameras tab, tap Add Camera, enter a clear camera name, paste the RTSP URL, and add optional username/password authentication if required by the camera.

Saved cameras appear in the CCTV Wall tab as live previews.

3. Watch and record

Open CCTV Wall to monitor saved cameras, refresh a stream after network changes, and use the Recordings tab for local clips. Cloud sign-in is optional and can be used for upload, download, sharing, and camera sync.

Quick help

Common questions

How do I add an RTSP camera?

Open the Cameras tab, tap Add Camera, enter a clear camera name, and paste the RTSP URL. If the camera requires authentication, enter the username and password in the Authentication section. Passwords are stored in the iOS Keychain and are not embedded into the visible RTSP URL.

Which cameras are compatible?

GuardFrame CCTV supports compatible RTSP over TCP/H.264 streams. Many IP cameras, DVRs, and NVRs can provide such streams, but exact support depends on the manufacturer, model, firmware, RTSP URL, codec settings, and network access.

Why is a camera offline?

Check that the iPhone or iPad can reach the camera network, the RTSP URL is correct, the camera uses H.264, the username and password are correct, and firewall/router rules allow the connection. If the network changed, use refresh on the CCTV Wall.

Why does the stream not show video?

Confirm that the camera is configured for H.264 video and RTSP/TCP access. Some cameras default to H.265/HEVC, MJPEG, UDP-only transport, or vendor-specific stream paths that may not be compatible with this app.

How does GuardFrame Cloud work?

Cloud sign-in is optional. When signed in, the app can upload completed local recordings, list cloud recordings, download recordings, create share links, delete cloud recordings, and sync camera entries between supported devices.

How are passwords handled?

Camera passwords entered in the Authentication section are stored securely in the iOS Keychain and are not embedded into the visible RTSP URL displayed inside the app.
